2020 marks the 75th anniversary of the United Nations, which aims to maintain international peace and security, and achieve international cooperation. This year also marks an unprecedented global health crisis driving fissures within and between communities, while people face job insecurity, economic decline, physical and mental health concerns, food insecurity and widespread uncertainty. These challenges are widespread, but vulnerable and minority communities are facing the worst circumstances in this crisis.
So what does collaboration look like now? As we recover from this crisis, how can we rebuild stronger and foster inclusive societies? By exploring these questions, we can search for unique opportunities that individuals, businesses, NGOs and governments can leverage so that as a society we come away from this moment in time stronger and more resilient.
UN75 Dialogues
It is vital for everyone to be heard at this crucial time. UN75 is a global dialogue initiative taking place in all settings, from classrooms to boardrooms to webinars, across the world. In order to reach as many people as possible, everyone is encouraged to take a one-minute survey that is quick and easy to complete.
The concerns, fresh ideas and unique perspectives shared throughout the UN75 initiative will be presented to world leaders and senior UN officials as the 75th UN General Assembly in 2020, contributing to priorities and proposals. Findings may inspire new programs, investments, partnerships and campaigns, among other options.
Dialogue on the Global Day of Solidarity
The UN SDG Action Campaign will be hosting a series of UN75 Dialogues considering this large question of how to foster collaboration in the midst of a divisive global crisis. Moderated by Arrey Obenson, Transformunity CEO, the first dialogue will focus on solidarity in action and building an inclusive society and be held on the Global Day of Solidarity.
Especially now, we need to demonstrate to one another a sense of solidarity and take action to emerge from this crisis stronger, better and inclusive. We are—after all— #StrongerTogether.
